  MicroSieves  allows the rapid, yet gentle, isolation of cells, organelles, or cellular debris.  Unlike traditional filters, MicroSieves is a precision woven matrix of pure nylon filaments that is available with pores ranging from 5  to 200 microns.  MicroSieves does not  wet  and contains no dyes, detergents or extractables.  Extremely low protein affinity means that cells and proteins will not bind to MicroSieves.  They have a wide variety of distinctive uses a specific sized porous screens in the laboratory:

  • Rapid collection of tissue culture cells without centrifugation.

  • Isolation of specific cell types from a dissociated tissue sample, allowing only a single type of cell to pass through.

  • Separation of different sized cells from a mixture of cell types.

  • Concentration and isolation of cells from a bioreactor.

  • Barrier to separate cells or tissues, while allowing free media diffusion.

  • Prefilter to prevent clogging of final filter.

   MicroSieves are versatile tools in the laboratory. A pure nylon product that is biologically inert.  Autoclavable and can be repeatedly washed and reused. MicroSieves are resistant to most acidic or basic conditions and many solvents.

    Type A:   Borosilicate glass filtration apparatus with stainless steel filter support. An aluminum clamp sandwiches a MicroSieves 47mm circle between the 300 ml top funnel and base.  Autoclavable.

    Type B:  Polysulfone non-toxic plastic filtration unit  that can be repeatedly re-used and autoclaved. Uses a 47mm MicroSieves circle.  Funnel and base both have a 300 ml capacity.

    Many biological preparations begin with extractions that require coarse filtration to remove cellular debris. But bulk filtration using cheesecloth absorbs lots of the extraction fluid, while membranes quickly clog.

     BioNylon produces rapid bulk filtration at extraordinary flow rates. BioNylon is loosely placed in a sieve holder to form a funnel. The sample is placed in the funnel, allowed to drain, and the layers of the BioNylon are gently pressed together to collect all of the extraction liquid.

  • Consists of very fine nylon filaments woven into a matrix with 50 micron pores.

  • A pure nylon product without detergents, dyes, or salts. Can be used directly with biologicals.

  • As BioNylon does not wet, significantly greater quantities of the extraction liquid are recovered compared to any other method.

  • BioNylon does not bind proteins, so no loss of your valuable sample will occur.

  • Compatible with the salts, buffers, and solvents used in biological research.  Autoclavable.

  • Extraordinary cost effective compared to other bulk filtration methods. High tensile strength.  Can be repeatedly washed and reused.
